The PDCC #141 - Card two ~butterfly style~
I just knew that I had to make another PDCC card when my daughter dropped a little bucket which held tubes of embossing powder. The embossing powder has been used only once before and has the most beautiful soft shades. Two of those colors were perfect for this challenge. I added some Webster's Pages goodies that I got from their warehouse sale, Unity butterfly and sentiment stamps and VOILA!
I'm also linking this card for Unity's FWF! See morehere. Link up and/or comment. You could win a prize! Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!

The PDCC #141 - soft colors
Hi all! The first card I made for The Playdate Cafe Challenege uses a technique I saw on a few different posts this week - to use the leftover part of a cutout shape as a frame and to use chalk to color it in. As soon as I saw the color story with the dress and the colors for this week - I knew that I wanted to use that frame in the shape of a dress. I used my Cricut to cut it out and used 4 colors close to the shades needed to create my dress. I hope you like it.

Some Friday cards
It's still Friday, right? Today has been really busy. Who am I kidding~ the whole summer has been busy. I'm a teacher and I was joking with another teacher today saying that I run around more in the summer than when school is in session. Well, it is true!!!! Anyway, I have a few cards to share with you. Please visit the Unity blog to see more great projects. I used several Unity sets today that I have never used AND my KOM came today so I already inked some of that up today, too!!
I received this the other day....my first order of washi tape and I finally got around to using it.
I made the first card for a friend of mine who just moved into a new apartment. She and her husband had been living in an apartment they hated, but she was the only one with a full time job. Luckily he was just hired at our school and they were able to move into a place they love!!!
The second card is a card I made for a friend who is expecting her first baby.
The third card was made for my brother who is celebrating a birthday. I remember reading in a few of your posts that you make multiple cards of the same kind. I liked this birthday card so much and the stamps were still inky when I thought of it, so I made three. They are all a little different using colors in a different order. Thanks for that advice!!!
Last Friday I said I was going to pick a winner for some blog candy. Out of all of the entries, my son picked one name and my winner is
EVA!!!!
Eva July 14, 2012 10:04 AM I love your projects. The hoop you made for your dad is amazing. When I first had kids and used to complain about how wild and loud they were, my dad used to say "be thankful and happy that they are able to do the things they do", and I still always remember those words, it is so important to be thankful for our blessings.
Please contact me at emerald@tds.net with your address so I can get your prize to you!!!

FWF ~ a few July birthday projects to share
July is a month full of celebrations in our family. My dad's birthday on the 8th. My son and sister share a birthday (24 years apart) on the 10th. Today is my parent's 43rd anniversary and my brother was born on the 20th. There are other non immediate family birthdays, too. My projects all revolve around one birthday or another this week. First, I will share my two cards. The first was
made for my sister.
The second was made for my dad. My dad loves hot air balloons. I made him a card for Father's Day with these balloons, too. Aren't they cute???
His birthday card was made a few minutes after I finished his birthday present. A few weeks ago I was looking at Thienly Azim's site: http://modpaperie.blogspot.com/ and I saw the greatest project. I wanted to make one for my dad's 65th birthday! It would be perfect!!! Thanks for the idea, Thienly!! Here is the link to her project.
I wasn't sure I would be able to get an embroidery hoop in my hometown as most of the stores in town stopped carrying embroidery floss, cross stitch, and embroidery supplies, but I was able to find one. It was yellow and plastic, but I made it work. Here is the project I made for my dad.
The quote "Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true." was perfect for Dad! He has worked so hard in the past 52 years to make his dreams (and mine) come true. He is a great dad who is always there for his kids and family, very supportive of us and our ideas and helpful when we need it. His two mottos for us when we were kids were "All I ask is that you try and do YOUR best" and "Safety first!"
I'm pretty sure he liked it :)
I hope you have a great weekend! I have been organizing my craft room ..... s.l.o.w.l.y. and realized today that I have some duplicate Unity stamps. I believe I have two of the set Delightful Little Things and some other random stamps that I wpuld like to give to another Unity lover. I am going to randomly pick a comment from one of my followers who answer the following to win this giveaway: I would like you to tell me one piece of advice your dad gave you when you were younger that sticks with you (or mom, or grandma/pa, or someone else important to you. I would love to have you follow me if you aren't already. Good luck! I will randomly choose a winner after 8 p.m. (CST) Sunday evening. Check out the other FWF projects at the Unity blog. Thanks for visiting me today!

I LOVE these colors!!!!
Update: Well, I meant to have some other cards/projects to share today (Friday), but I didn't get another chance in my craft room this week with the holiday and lots of family time. Most of you haven't seen the card I made earlier this week so I will enter it into Unity's FWF. Go to the Unity blog to see more FWF projects.
I have decided that the middle of the day - even in the summer - is not my time to craft. When I try, I sit and sit and make mistakes left and right. I can plan during the day, but the crafting has to happen when I am all alone in my basement at night. It doesn't have to be really late at night, it just has to be at night. At least for now. My husband will be happy to know that I can spend more time organizing my huge messes around the house during the day :) I made this card based on the colors for this week's
Play Date Cafe challenge.
I love them!!!! I found some paper with several circles on it that I really liked and had a few of the colors I needed. I don't even know how long I have had it. I realized today (actually I knew before, but it was confirmed today) that I am a paper hoarder. I but paper I like and hold onto it. I'm trying to get better about using it :) I used both dsides of the paper to make the circles and their background pieces. I also used double sided silky ribbon, C'oredinations whitewash paper, and some gems. It was a pretty simple card that fell together very well and quickley for me. Thanks goodness! I really dislike when cardmaking time gets stressful and frustrating. Bye, bye stress - hello happy cardmaker :)
I am also entering this card into Frosted Designs challenge of using circles.
Paper - Core'dinations Whitewash, Bo Bunny Backyard Bubbles
Stamp - Unity {ippity} How you doin'
Ink - Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Faded Jeans
